Robin Williams, a Chicago native who attended Redwood High School (also attended by actresses Erin Gray and Gabrielle Carteris, actor David Strathairn, football coach Pete Carroll, comedian Maz Jobrani and Gov. Gavin Newsom) in Larkspur, California, starred in TV’s “Mork & Mindy” and appeared in “Awakenings,” “Popeye,” “Hook,” “Night at the Museum,” “Insomnia,” “Patch Adams” and “Mrs. Doubtfire.” He died Aug. 11, 2014, at his home in Paradise Cay, Calif. The autopsy referred to Lewy body dementia as a factor. His publicist, Mara Buxbaum, said he suffered from severe depression.
